Kenyan actor Ryan Mwenda known for his role as Simba in the popular TV soap opera Zora, has made a public plea to former President Uhuru Kenyatta and current Head of State William Ruto in the wake of a tragic fire incident that claimed the lives of three of his relatives.
The budding actor took to his Instagram page In a 5-minute video, to share the news of the loss of his loved ones in a fire that engulfed their residence in South B on the night of March 2, 2024.
“I am absolutely devastated. Words can’t explain my pain during this moment. The loss of my 3 relatives in such a short period has been heavy on us as a family. We ask that you keep us in your prayers,” Ryan shared.
The 16-year-old further disclosed that he was the nephew of Jackie, cousin to Tymara Karimia, and a close friend to their nanny, Kinya, all of whom tragically lost their lives in the fire.
He further negated a message to the retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and his successor William Ruto to appeal for financial support to give his loved ones a befitting sendoff as well as his friends.Â
“It’s such a devastating time for me and my family and I’m humbly appealing to my friends, the Fourth President of Kenya His Excellency Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, and the Fifth President of Kenya His Excellency President William Ruto to come to the aid of my family to assist in giving them a befitting send-off,” Mwenda stated.
According to reports, the victims had attempted to seek help as the fire engulfed their house.
The sister of one of the victims shared the harrowing account on social media, expressing deep regret for not being able to assist them during their final moments.
“I am saddened to learn about the painful deaths you went through calling for help that was not forthcoming. Forgive me, forgive us. We were not there when you called for help. We found all your bodies near the door; you would have made it out if a little effort was put in and doors or windows open,” she wrote on Facebook.
