Winnie Bwire’s Parents Overcome with Grief After Body Viewing
Bwire’s family, along with fellow artists, gathered at the mortuary to pay their respects. They remembered her not only for her remarkable talent but also for her distinct sense of beauty.
As they made preparations for her final farewell, they also reflected on the challenges she faced in accessing cancer treatment.
Winnie Mataya, a fellow cancer survivor, passionately appealed to the government to make such treatment more affordable, underscoring the harsh reality for those without the means to afford essential care.
Winnie will be laid to rest in her ancestral home in Western Kenya, on a date yet to be announced.
Her family announced her death on Thursday, September 5, revealing that she had bravely fought Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (DCIS), a type of cancer, for two long years.
