We’re making tough but necessary decisions – Kindiki

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has reiterated that the Kenya Kwanza Administration has had to make tough but necessary decisions to steer Kenya toward economic recovery and long-term progress.

He highlighted that difficult measures, including the implementation of the affordable housing programme, are crucial for helping the country achieve its long-term development aspirations.

According to Kindiki, the programme aligns Kenya with the path taken by some Southeast Asian countries sixty years ago.

“By prioritizing the long-term national interest over political conveniences of the present, the Kenya Kwanza Administration is actualizing our founding fathers’ dream of eradicating slums, squalid dwellings and unplanned settlements to create a more egalitarian society,” he stated.

The Deputy President acknowledged that the programme may not be popular but will ultimately provide significant benefits to Kenyan citizens.

“This is the generation to make difficult but important decisions that may not be politically convenient immediately, to enable as many Kenyans as possible to own decent homes,” he said.

He added that Kenya cannot pursue sustainable development without investing in housing, which remains one of the most pressing needs of the time.

“Decent and dignified dwellings to more Kenyans rolls back the pangs of poverty and places Kenya higher on the global human development index. We may be sixty years late, but better late than never,” he said
