‘We are in a crisis’ Jalang’o puts SRC on the spot for increasing MP’s salary
Langata Member of Parliament Jalango is not happy about the decision by Salary Renumeration Commission to increase salaries for MP’s and CS’s.
He questioned whether the commission wants the politicians to be killed
There are things that almost look like a setup! We are in a crisis and SRC are proposing an increment of 14K ! Yaani mnataka tupigwe tukufe ndio mfurahi? Mimi sitaki!”There are things that almost look like a setup! We are in a crisis and SRC are proposing an increment of 14K ! Yaani mnataka tupigwe tukufe ndio mfurahi? Mimi sitaki!”
Other politicians who have addressed the issue include Nairobi Senator and Embakasi MP.
MPs and other state officers should not be added even a coin. It’s sad to increase salary while Kenyans have no jobs,Kenyans have no capital to start businesses,Kenyans have no money to pay school fees,No money for medication.Say NO to salary increment.”
Edwin Sifuna stated
“Let’s be clear about what we are discussing. The SRC is proposing to add 14k to my salary. I didn’t ask for it. I don’t need it. It’s still money, in a country where many have no income, but for perspective, I pay close to 300k in income tax every month,” Sifuna said.
The Nairobi Senator further added:
“I will not fight for 14k extra when the whole country is saying we need to lessen the taxpayer burden. I don’t want this 14k. Ikae.”
