WaJesus couple explain absence during Finance Bill protests
Scores of celebrities have been called out by Kenyans for remaining silent as citizens speak out against the proposed Finance Bill 2024.
The contention among Kenyans is that not speaking up equals supporting the bill. Others accuse celebrities of being conspicuously absent on the ground for the Tuesday, June 18 Nairobi protests.
Among those famous people that Kenyans called out were the Wa Jesus family. Kabi has since posted on his IG feed, sharing posters that are circulating online announcing nationwide protests.
Kabi on his Instagram wrote, “We reject the punitive finance bill 2024. I’ve been spreading awareness on my Instastories, and while we couldn’t be there for yesterday’s public protest, we fully support the movement.
Huge thanks to everyone who showed up, especially the inspiring Gen Z. Now, Mombasa, it’s your turn to make a stand!”
However several Kenyans came to the defense of the couple, sharing that they indeed have been vocal. Kabi revealed in numerous comments that they were not around.
winno_a wrote, “I also once saw Millis insta stories i think two days before the dday yesterday. she was rejecting them.”
Milly agreed saying, “@_winno_a always have.”
Another defended Kabi as well with viekamau saying, “He posted on his insta story some days ago… You people just like spreading hate just because…”
Kabi reacted with more information writing, “@dee_murithi it’s not a one day affair let’s keep rejecting.”
IG User claiire_ss weighed in saying, “Kwendeni uko, mlikuwa wapi jana nkt,” to which Kabi as well defended themselves adding, “@claiire_ss Jana hatukua around.”
fay_ndinda wrote, “Haters please,,,Kabi and Milly have been spreading the awareness Kwa instastories anyway atleast I know their stand.”
_g.ak.ii__ ….“Wajesus?? Leo shuallyy???” Kabi again responded, “@_g.ak.ii__…. yes Jana hatukua.”
