Victoria Rubadiri makes debut on CNN days after quitting Citizen TV [Video]
Award-winning media personality Victoria Rubadiri has officially made her debut on Cable News Network (CNN) after leaving Citizen TV.
Ms Rubadiri made her debut on March 3rd, 2024 where she was hosted by Eleni Giokos where she spoke about her new role and the stories she will be covering across Africa.
“Well to the connecting African family,” Eleni said to her.
She replied; “Thank you so much…so excited to join the team”, before going into discussion with Elani about Kenya’s SGR projects.
Rubadiri joins CNN International for a new role on its long-running multiplatform series Connecting Africa and as part of the network’s newsgathering operation in Nairobi.
“I’m extremely excited for the opportunity to work at CNN and to bring my experience and passion to its global audience. Connecting Africa champions the people, projects, and companies revolutionising African business and I’m looking forward to working alongside Eleni and the team to get out on the ground and tell these stories,“ Victoria said.
In 2020, Rubadiri was awarded the BBC World News Komla Dumor Award for her exceptional talent in telling African stories.
Ms Rubadiri has reunited with her former colleague at NTV Larry Madowo.
She joined Citizen TV from the Nation Media Group in 2018.
During her time at Citizen TV, she clinched the prestigious Komla Dumor award, which led her to briefly relocate to London and collaborate with the BBC for three months.
Recipients of the award undergo a three-month training program with the BBC.
Rubadiri joins the ranks of prominent news anchors who have departed from Citizen TV.
