Vetting of ambassadorial nominees kicks off
The National Assembly Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations Committee has begun conducting vetting of ambassadorial nominees.
First to appear before the committee Thursday morning was Catherine Kirumba Karemu, the ambassadorial nominee for London, United Kingdom.
Kirumba told the committee that she has a Net worth of 250 million.
The committee is querying the nominee on not having experience in the diplomatic sphere and how she can overcome that if appointed.
Also in the query is how she will resolve the Miraa ban in Europe and how she would boost tourism in the country.
Former Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Arthur Maangi who is seeking the Kampala, Uganda ambassadorial role is currently before the National Assembly’s Defence, Intelligence, and Foreign Relations Committee for vetting.
Other ambassadorial nominees expected to appear before the committee today, are Lilian Tomitom-Lusaka, Jonah Mwangi-Tehran, Iran and Caroline Kamende for Ottawa, Canada.
