UDA’s Osoro defends ODM’s Kisii DG Monda in impeachment inquiry » Capital News
NAIROBI, Kenya Mar 13 – National Assembly Majority Whip Silvanus Osoro is part of the legal team defending Kisii Deputy Governor Robert Monda in his impeachment hearing in the Senate plenary.
Osoro, Member of Parliament for South Mugirango, is part of a five-member team led by Senior Counsel Katwa Kigen.
They will present arguments on behalf of Monda, who is determined to retain his position.
Monda faced impeachment on February 29, 2024, initiated by members of the Kisii County Assembly over allegations of abuse of office and bribery.
Osoro and Kisii Governor Simba Arati, who is Monda’s boss, have been entangled in acrimonious conflicts over the management of the county.
Osoro alleges that Governor Arati has mishandled the county affairs and disregarded advice from other leaders in the larger Kisii region.
Representing the Kisii County Assembly, Advocate Ndegwa Njiru leads a five-member legal team determined to persuade the Senate to uphold Monda’s impeachment.
Monda has already pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him by the Kisii County Assembly.
