NAIROBI, Kenya Apr 26 – The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has extended time for polls in delayed grassroots elections.

The party’s National Elections Board (NEB) chairman Anthony Mwaura said the move is to accommodate voters who haven’t had the chance to cast their ballots yet.

The polls were scheduled to close at 3.00 pm to pave the way for the vote-counting exercise.

The party is holding the election in five regions: Nairobi, Busia, Narok, West Pokot, and Homa Bay.

Mwaura had earlier assured of a free and fair process.

He stated that over 5,000, electronic gadgets and necessary manpower had been distributed in the polling stations in the 2,900 polling centers.

“All the logistical plans are in place. Election materials, notably the electronic gadgets to be used, have been distributed to respective counties and the manpower is well prepared to conduct the elections,” he stated.

According to Mwaura, the gadgets will meticulously guide the voter on the steps to take to vote for a candidate.

The gadgets are set to ensure that there is transparency and fairness in the elections elections.
