Two more suspects arrested as police recover pistol used in MP Were’s murder

Police have arrested two more suspects linked to the fatal shooting of Kasipul MP Charles Were.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has identified the suspects as Edwin Oduor Odhiambo alias Abdul Rashid and Dennis Sewe Munyasi.

This brings the number of suspects arrested in connection with the MP’s murder to six after four others were taken into custody on Sunday.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the DCI said the two suspects led detectives to Odhiambo’s residence, where officers recovered two pistols, a Retay Falcon and a Sarsilmaz, alongside nine rounds of 9mm calibre ammunition.

A bag and footwear resembling those worn by one of the suspects at the scene were also retrieved.

“All items have been submitted for forensic examination,” said the DCI.

An autopsy conducted by Chief Government Pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor revealed that the late Were sustained five gunshot wounds, all fired from the left side of his body.

During the autopsy, two bullets were recovered, adding to a third previously found in the deceased’s vehicle.

Were was shot dead on April 30 by an unknown gunman along Ngong Road, who was reportedly riding a motorcycle.
