TikTok video suspect arrested in Mombasa over inflammatory content
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested Shedrack Omondi Okindo, also known as Hon. Mosquito, in connection with a widely circulated video that the agency claims caused public alarm on August 1, 2025.
According to the DCI, Okindo was apprehended in the Miritini area of Mombasa County following prompt forensic investigations and coordinated tracking by detectives.
“The inflammatory clip, which contained threats of violence and incitement against public order, quickly went viral, triggering public concern and swift action from security agencies,” the DCI stated in a release following Okindo’s arrest.
During a search of his residence, detectives recovered two pairs of tactical combat fatigues, three mobile phones, various documents linked to a group identifying itself as the Justice Direction Party, and a handwritten notebook stating: “We are going to apply guerrilla resistance tactics – Justice to all freedom heroes.”
The suspect is currently in custody as investigations continue. He will be processed and presented before the court to face charges related to incitement and other offences under the law.
His arrest comes just days after the DCI apprehended Patrick Nyambaka Osoi, a founding member of the Fighting Brutality and Impunity (FBI) movement along Lang’ata Road in Nairobi.
Osoi was later arraigned at the Kahawa Law Courts and is facing charges under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, 2012, including possession of a firearm.
In a related development, Jackson Kuria Kihara, also known as Cop Shakur, was arrested in Kahawa West. Police report that he was found in possession of a red beret bearing the ‘FBI’ symbol.
