Tight security at ACK Diocese in Nyahururu

Security was beefed up Sunday at the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) in Nyahururu Diocese where President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua are attending a Sunday service.

The two leaders are among the dignitaries invited for the Consecration and Enthronement of Reverend Samson Mburu Gachathi as the 3rd Bishop of ACK Nyahururu Diocese.

Police mounted in Nyahururu town while congregants attending the service had to go through thorough body checks.

Kenyans particularly young adults (GenZ) have mobilised to oppose the Finance Bill 2024 under different hashtags.

Sunday “Occupy the Church” and “Occupy Nyahururu” hashtags were trending where organizers of the anti-Finance Bill protests have urged the clergy not to allow politicians who voted ‘Yes’ for the Bill to speak to congregants.

Countrywide protests with the hashtag #Occupy Parliament #TotalShutDownKenya are planned for Tuesday, June 25.
