Three KDF soldiers killed in IED attack in Lamu
Three Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers have been killed following a deadly Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack in Sankuri, Lamu County.
A statement from KDF said the device went off along the Sankuri-Kiunga Main Supply Route (MSR) while the troops were on patrol.
The injured soldiers were evacuated to specialized military medical facilities in the region and are responding to treatment.
According to KDF, a multi-agency team has since been launched to pursue the perpetrators of the crime and have heightened the manning routes in and out of the area.
“Kenya Defence Forces recognizes the courage demonstrated by the personnel and appreciates the swift response by multi-agency teams operating in the area,” said KDF.
