Suspect’s attempt to traffic methamphetamine foiled at JKIA
A suspect’s attempt to traffic 1.15 kg of methamphetamine through Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) was thwarted on Tuesday.
According to a recent report from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on their X account, the concealed parcel, hidden within a larger consignment, was discovered at the FedEx Express warehouse.
The seizure of the drug, valued at Ksh 9.2 million based on street estimates, was made possible by a tip-off to Anti-Narcotics detectives stationed at JKIA.
“This intelligence prompted a thorough search within the warehouse at the Mitchell Cott Shed, leading to the discovery,” read their post in part.
Investigations are ongoing to identify the trafficker and determine the intended destination of the methamphetamine.
