Sonko offers to take Kimani Mbugua to rehab

Former Nairobi County governor Gideon Mbuvi, popularly known as Mike Sonko, has volunteered to help former Citizen TV journalist Kimani Mbugua on his journey to recovery.

According to comedian and former radio host Oga Obinna, the young journalist, who has been struggling with psychological issues, is currently admitted to Mathare Hospital, where he is receiving specialized treatment.

Sonko has now offered to transfer the young man from Mathare Hospital to the Mombasa Women’s Hospital rehab center after allegedly consulting with his parents.

“In consultation with Kimani Mbugua’s parents, I will pay his bill at Mathare Hospital and transfer him to the Mombasa Women’s Hospital rehab center. Currently, Conjestina Achieng is still there and doing well,” Mike claimed on his Twitter page.

The former governor made this statement after appearing on the Obinna Live show for an interview, where he was informed about Mbugua’s condition.

During the interview, comedian Obinna mentioned that they plan to take the former journalist to rehab for about a year.

“I can pay the bill at Mathare, and then we can transfer him to where Conjestina is currently at Mombasa Women’s Hospital. There are even male patients there; it’s a rehab. They have professional doctors, very good doctors. I will pay the Mathare bill and cover his costs there,” Sonko said.

Additionally, the politician volunteered to take Kimani’s parents on a vacation to Mombasa for a few days so they can rest after what they have been through.

He also offered to help pay the outstanding rent arrears for veteran journalist Eunice Ommolo, who is currently undergoing treatment.
