Sakaja forced to flee after being heckled with stones at Toi market

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has been evacuated from Toi Market in Kibra as residents were seen throwing stones.

In a video doing rounds on social media on Saturday, people were heard heckling at him as stones were thrown his way.

His security had to shield the governor as he left the market.

Sakaja had visited the market following the inferno this morning.

The blaze, believed to have started around 4 am on Saturday, is suspected to have been caused by an electrical fault.

“An electric fault in one of the wooden houses caused the fire early this morning,” one of the traders said.

Four people were reported to be burnt beyond recognition following a fire that razed down Toi market.

A child was among the four. The victims were attempting to save their belongings when they were overpowered by the flames.
