President William Ruto has nominated former IEBC Chairman Isaac Hassan as Chairperson of the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) in new appointments to various government agencies.

In the announcement, President Ruto also nominated seven other members to IPOA, including Ann Wanjiku Mwangi, Micah Onyiego Nyakego, Boniface Kipkemoi Samati, Annette Mbogoh, John Muchiri Nyaga, Kenwilliams Nyakomitah, and Jackline Lukalo Mwenesi.

The nominations come as the government faces mounting pressure to investigate police-linked killings during the Gen Z-led demonstrations in June of this year.

Ruto also nominated Charles Orinda Dulo to serve as the next Ombudsman, chairing the Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ).

Former Starehe MP Charles Njagua Kanyi and Dorothy Jemator Kimengech have been nominated as CAJ members.

At the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC), President Ruto nominated Sammy Chepkwony as chairperson, alongside six other members.

The President further nominated former Isiolo County Woman Representative Rehema Dida Jaldesa to chair the National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC).

Additionally, Gerald Nyaoma Arita has been nominated as the second Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya.

All nominees are expected to assume office upon successful vetting by Parliament.
