RMS head Kaikai confirms Victoria Rubadiri leaving Citizen TV
Citizen TV news anchor Victoria Rubadiri is bidding farewell to the network after six years.
Her impending departure was revealed on Sunday by Linus Kaikai, the Group Editorial Director of Royal Media Services (RMS).
While expressing sadness at her departure, Kaikai expressed pride in Rubadiri’s contributions during her tenure at Citizen TV.
“We nicknamed #SundayLive the ‘American Edition’ because this pair rolls Uncle Sam’s tongue just right! Sadly but proudly, Vicky Rubadiri proceeds to her next duty station after 6 years with Citizen TV Kenya,” Kaikai remarked.
Rubadiri joined Citizen TV from the Nation Media Group in 2018.
During her time at Citizen TV, she clinched the prestigious Komla Dumor award, which led her to briefly relocate to London and collaborate with the BBC for three months.
Recipients of the award undergo a three-month training program with the BBC.
Rubadiri joins the ranks of prominent news anchors who have departed from Citizen TV.
In the past year, Waihiga Mwaura, also a recipient of the Komla Dumor award, joined the British Broadcast Corporation (BBC) as a senior news anchor for the Focus on Africa program.
Additionally, former Senior Political Editor Francis Gachuri departed to work with the Ministry of Interior and National Administration.
This year, senior reporters Chemutai Goin and Hassan Mugambi also left their roles to work with the National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula and the Ministry of Defence, respectively.
