Rayvanny finally reveals reason he parted ways with Diamond
Bongo Flava star, Raymond Mwakyusa, popularly known as Rayvanny, has opened up about his departure from the music label Wasafi (WCB) nearly two years ago.
Speaking on the Imo podcast, the Next Music Level boss said the main reason for leaving the label owned by singer Diamond Platnumz was because he needed freedom.
He said he had a good experience working with his former boss but noted that there came a time when he felt he had reached a level of independence.
“I was signed with him (Diamond), I was under the Wasafi label. We did many things together. We achieved many great things together,” he said.
“There came a time when I said, I think I am mature enough to move on, to be independent,” he added.
Vannyboy also revealed that the process of leaving Wasafi to become independent was not easy.
“It’s hard. But the good thing is that we have good communication. Because usually when artists leave a label, it’s not always good,” he said.
The former WCB artist praised his distribution company for supporting this step and made it clear that he now feels very free.
Moreover, he noted that being independent has been a good challenge as it has allowed him to try things his own way.
“It’s up to you now, whether you fail or succeed, it’s up to you. It’s a good challenge for me to discover myself,” he said.
Rayvanny finally left WCB officially in July 2022 after working under Diamond Platnumz for about six years.
The Next Level Music CEO announced his departure on Instagram in an emotional video where he recounted his experience under the label.
“It’s been six years since we started working together, my team, my WCB family, love, unity has been a very big pillar as a team,” he said.
Rayvanny thanked Diamond’s label for its significant contribution to his music life. He said he succeeded as an artist of Wasafi.
“I have learned a lot from the team, and also, we have achieved a lot as a team. You nurtured me and grew my talent,” Rayvanny said.
Explaining the reason for leaving the label, Rayvanny said he wants to create more opportunities for upcoming musicians.
“It’s my time to leave home and start a new life. The goal is to grow and also to create opportunities for other artists, to leave and help others, I will be helping young musicians wherever I go. . I was helped to reach this level.”
Diamond wished Rayvanny well, writing, “The President of NLM! Let’s gooooo!”
