Raila sustains AUC chairmanship campaigns in SADC region
Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga continues to engage with leaders from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) as he intensifies his campaigns for the chairmanship of the African Union Commission (AUC).
On Thursday, the Kenyan candidate visited the neighbouring countries of Botswana and South Africa.
Raila was hosted by President Duma Boko of Botswana in Gaborone. During their meeting, the former Prime Minister sought Boko’s support for the AUC post, underscoring his robust plan to help the continent achieve its development aspirations.
“Thank you, President Boko, for creating time to allow me to share my vision for a prosperous and united Africa,” Raila noted.
Raila also met with South Africa’s Cyril Ramaphosa in Pretoria, where Odinga’s candidature for the AUC chairmanship was the primary topic of discussion.
“We discussed my vision for the continent, and I got an opportunity to outline my plan for the African Union Commission (AUC), which is anchored on ten priority areas,” said Odinga.
Raila hopes the region will rally behind him in next month’s elections in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
