Public Seal under my custody, AG says

Attorney General Dorcas Oduor has dismissed reports that the public seal is not under her custody.

Speaking after unveiling the Committee for Rapid Results Initiative aimed at fast tracking settlement of land and environment-related disputes, Oduor sought to put to rest the debate saying her office remains the lawful custodian of the critical government symbol.

Media reports had earlier indicated that the public seal had moved to the head of public service office.

The seal is used to stamp critical documents to represent the government, to show they are authentic and official.

It also acts as the formal approval mechanism for governance, financial transactions, diplomatic agreements, and critical national deals.

Oduor has in the meantime unveiled the committee to help deal with the land and environment related cases in  the country which are on the rise.

Oduor exuded confidence on newly established committee saying timely and effective implementation of the report will be helpful to stakeholders in the land sector and policy makers in the two levels of the governments.

Over 10,581 land and environment related cases are currently waiting determination in the court system.
