PSC to interview 6,673 candidates for internships starting Wednesday
The Public Service Commission (PSC) is set to interview 6,673 candidates eyeing 2,000 internship slots under the seventh (7th) cohort of the Public Service Internship Programme (PSIP).
In a notification on X, the Commission announced that the interviews will be conducted via telephone over the next three days, starting Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at 8:30 a.m., through Friday, November 22, 2024.
Shortlisted candidates are required to have original identification documents (ID or passport), as well as academic and professional certificates for reference during the interview.
The PSC has advised candidates competing for the 12-month, non-renewable internships across various government ministries, departments, and agencies to prepare thoroughly.
This marks a shift from previous in-person interviews.
“Applicants can visit the PSC job portal for further updates. Best wishes to all the shortlisted candidates for their upcoming interviews. Remember to prepare thoroughly and have all required documentation,” the Commission stated.
The names of the shortlisted candidates are available on the PSC website.
The Commission has assured that the recruitment process follows constitutional requirements, ensuring diverse community representation and gender balance.
The Public Service Internship Programme (PSIP) is a government youth empowerment initiative aimed at providing college graduates with hands-on experience and skills to enhance their employment prospects, networking opportunities, and entrepreneurial ventures.
Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has pledged to reform the programme to include the private sector.
“This programme should be reworked, re-looked and re-engineered to involve the private sector which should be incentivized to take interns,” Muturi said upon assuming office.
