PS Njogu issues advisory on South Korea job scams

The Principal Secretary of the State Department for Diaspora Affairs, Roseline Njogu, has cautioned the public regarding fraudulent recruitment schemes linked to non-existent employment opportunities for Kenyans in the Republic of South Korea.

Njogu disclosed that her department was placed on high alert when unscrupulous recruiters began referencing job placements in various regions of South Korea, including Haenam, Wando, Jindo, Yeongam, and Jangheung counties in Jeollanam-do province.

In response to the emergence of these dubious job offers, the PS indicated that her department, in collaboration with the Kenya Embassy in Seoul and South Korean authorities, launched investigations and has since confirmed that these offers are not genuine.

“The companies named in these advertisements have denied any involvement in recruiting Kenyan workers and clarified that they have no links to any recruitment agencies operating in Kenya,” the PS stated.

Ms. Njogu advised Kenyans to refrain from engaging with any agencies or individuals offering jobs in South Korea without proper verification.

“These offers are fraudulent and may expose you to financial loss, exploitation, human trafficking, or other serious risks,” she cautioned.

“Please exercise extreme caution if you encounter such advertisements or opportunities,” urged the PS.
