President Ruto to address the nation

President William Ruto is set to address the nation today at 1 pm.

The announcement was made by State House spokesman Hussein Mohammed on X after a second cabinet meeting this week to deliberate on extra measures to mitigate the devastating effects of flooding, mudslides and landslides in many parts of the country.

The address is likely to focus on the flood situation. So far, the national flood-related death toll has reached 188 including 151 adults and 37 children.

125 others have been injured and 90 missing while 33,100 households have been displaced, comprising approximately 165,500 persons.

According to a weather forecast for the next three months, the country will receive average to above-average rains.

Consequently, flooding is expected in low-lying areas as are landslides and mudslides.
