President Ruto says jet he used for USA trip was cheaper than KQ

President William Ruto has broken his silence about the private jet hired for his recent State Visit to the United States.

While defending the decision to charter the plane, the head of state clarified that its cost was far cheaper than other alternatives, including national career Kenya Airways (KQ).

“I have noted concerns about my mode of transport to USA. As a responsible steward of public resources and in keeping with my determination for us to live within our means and that I should lead from the front in so doing, the cost was less than travelling on KQ,” the President posted on his X account Sunday afternoon.

Ruto landed back from the US Saturday after a 4-day state visit, the first to be accorded to an African leader in 16 years.
