President Ruto Leads the Nation in Farewell to General Ogolla, Burial Honors Accordance with His Wishes » Capital News
NAIROBI, Kenya Apr 21 – President William Ruto, the Commander-In-Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, will lead the nation in bidding farewell to military chief General Francis Ogolla.
General Ogolla died in a helicopter crash on Thursday last week in Elgeyo Marakwet County alongside nine other officers.
According to a programme released by the Kenya Defence Forces, General Ogolla’s interment will strictly adhere to his wishes, with the burial conducted without a coffin.
As a mark of respect for his service, General Ogolla, who passed away while in office, will receive a 19-gun salute from the officers he led for nearly a year.
The burial date was determined through discussions with military leadership and state officials, in compliance with General Ogolla’s request for interment within 72 hours of his passing.
At 62 years old, General Ogolla tragically lost his life alongside nine other military personnel in a helicopter crash in Elgeyo Marakwet county on Thursday.
Among those who perished alongside General Ogolla were Brigadier Swale Saidi, Colonel Duncan Keitany, Lieutenant Colonel David Sawe, Major George Benson Magondu, and Captain Sora Mohamed.
Also among the fallen were Captain Hillary Litali, Senior Sergeant John Kinyua Mureithi, Sergeant Cliphonce Omondi, and Sergeant Rose Nyawira.
