President Ruto joins Pope Francis in global call for peace

President William Ruto has joined Pope Francis in calling for an urgent end to violence in all parts of the world, including Sudan and the DRC.

He expressed encouragement that the Tumaini Initiative, co-sponsored by the Sant’ Egidio Catholic Community in Rome, Italy, and the Government of Kenya, is yielding positive results in bringing lasting peace to South Sudan.

He also voiced confidence that the warring groups would agree to stop the fighting and give peace a chance.

President Ruto made these remarks after holding talks with Pope Francis on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Apulia, Italy.
