President William Ruto has arrived in China for a four-day State Visit at the invitation of His Excellency President Xi Jinping.
He is accompanied by First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto and a number of other leaders.
Upon arrival at Beijing Daxing International Airport, the head of state was welcomed by China’s Transport Minister Liu Wei.
Also present to receive him was Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.
The visit marks President Ruto’s third visit to China since he took office in 2022.
His previous visits occurred in October 2023 for the Third Belt and Road Forum and in September 2024 for the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
Discussions between President Ruto and his host will focus on China’s investments in Kenya’s critical infrastructure projects, the strengthening of cooperation among the Global South, regional peace and security, and other pressing global issues.
China has played a significant role in delivering some of Kenya’s key infrastructure projects, including the Standard Gauge Railway, Nairobi Expressway, Lamu Port, and the Kipevu Oil Terminal.
