Power supply to be interrupted in 9 counties on Thursday

Kenya Power has planned scheduled power interruption on Thursday in select areas within nine counties to facilitate system maintenance.

In a public notice Wednesday evening, the utility company listed Nairobi, Machakos, Kiambu, Embu, Busia, Bomet, Nyeri, Kirinyaga and Migori as counties to be affected.

Areas to be affected in Nairobi lie within South C such as Bellevue, Toyota Kenya, Ole Sereni Hotel, KNEC, Khalsa schools, Kenya Re, Nextgen Mall Eka hotel and adjacent customers.

Power will be out in those areas between 9am and 5pm.

In Kiambu, establishments to be affected are located within Thika Green phase 1-3, and Githingiri, Memorial Hospital, Kari, Kalro and Government View Estate. Power will be out from 9am to 1pm.

Residents and businesses located around Chesilyot and Kaplong in Bomet County will experience the interruption from 9am to 4pm same time as those in Embu’s Kivwe, Makengi, Kivote, Ena, Kithimu and Rukira.

In Kirinyaga County, areas to be affected are located around Kianjiru and Mururi markets and the Governor’s office.

They include part of Kutus town, Chinise-Site Daraja ya Mungu,  Kwa Kibera, Kutus Municipality and adjacent customers.

In Busia County, residents to be affected are those around Nambale DC, Lugulu, Madende, Namahindi and Mungatsi where power will be out from 9am to 5pm.

During the same period, residents of Machakos County residing along Kangundo Road, Joska and Malaa will also be without power as well as parts of Athi River including Nova Pioneer, Welding Alloys, Greatwall 3-5, Kongoni Godowns, Riverpark and Paradise Park estates and Sayani Brothers.

Part of Machakos town will also go without power between 9am and 5pm in areas like the Industrial Area, Muthini Estate, Civil Servant’s Estate, Bomani and adjacent customers.

The interruption will also affect residents of Gogo and Rapogi in Migori County between 8am to 2pm.

Parts of Awendo, Uriri, Lwanda, Sori, Pinyo Owanjo and Osiri Gold Mine will also be affected.

Elsewhere in Nyeri County, areas to be affected include Blueline, Munyu and Kimahuri.

Power will be cut from 9am to 5pm at KWS Mt Kenya, Soweto, Kiriakor, Naromoru Girls, Judea, Meree, Lusoi, Mapema and Ndathi.

Those residing and doing business in Kiawambogo, Kianguru, Nyagatugu and Wanjerere will also be affected as power has been scheduled to be cut from 8am to 5pm in those locations and adjacent areas.
