Police warn residents to keep off Thwake dam




Police in Makueni have warned members of the public to stay away from Thwake Dam whose water level is rising rapidly.

According to a situational report by the DCI, raging waters have engulfed the Makueni bridge, submerged the intake tunnel and also destroyed guard rails.

The surrounding area is deemed dangerous for habitation and movement.

“Consequently, habitancy and movement along the said areas have been rendered dangerous by the floods, and locals and any persons involved in any kind of engagement around the area are advised to keep away for their safety” the police in Kathonzweni, Makueni County warned.

The sub-county’s quarry area, garage and residential site belonging to Sinoma sub-contractor are also flooded.
