NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 23 – Huduma Center has disclosed that over 138,000 national Identification Cards remain uncollected in its outlets spread across the country.
The agency in a post shared on its X account further revealed that 54,000 birth certificates, as well as 45,000 smart Driving Licenses, are part of the documents that have not been collected by their owners following their printing. public urged to collect documents.
“Over 138K uncollected IDs, 54K birth certificates, and over 45 K uncollected Smart DL’s at Huduma Centres,” read the post by Huduma Kenya in part.
The surge in printing speaks to the bolstered efforts by the government to cascade down the services to devolved units across the country.
In November last year, the government revealed its plans to roll out Huduma Centers in all the 314 sub-counties in the country.
Public Service Performance and Delivery Management Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria asserted that this was anchored on the government’s desire to ensure seamless service delivery at the grassroots level.
“They seek to save Kenyans the agony of moving from one State office to another in search of public service, which often was frustrating and discouraging,” he said at the time.
He added the centers have over time proved to be more efficient to citizens in terms of service delivery.
