NYS dismisses as malicious claims its buses ferried goons
The National Youth Service (NYS) has dismissed allegations that its buses were used to transport individuals reportedly involved in criminal activities during the recent Saba Saba demonstrations in Naivasha.
In a statement, it described reports that goons were ferried to Naivasha in NYS buses under police escort as false and misleading, intended to tarnish the reputation of the institution.
“The National Youth Service (NYS) wishes to categorically clarify and strongly dispute the false and misleading allegations circulating on various media platforms,” the statement read.
“These allegations are not only baseless and malicious, but they are also meant to unjustly tarnish the reputation of the National Youth Service, an institution committed to discipline, patriotism and national development”, it added.
The Commandant General reiterated that the institution remains apolitical and has never been involved in any unlawful activities.
“NYS personnel operate under strict command and accountability procedures, movement of all NYS assets, including vehicles, is documented and subject to verification at any given time”, the NYS boss clarified.
He further urged members of the public, media and political leaders to refrain from what NYS described as propagating unverified information.
“Any attempt to associate NYS with criminal or politically instigated actions is a grave misrepresentation of our core values,” he said.
