New details emerge about Fred Omondi’s burial and memorial service

Eric Omondi’s brother, Fred Omondi, will be buried next Saturday at their home in Sega, Siaya County The planning committee for the final journey of the late comedian Fred Omondi has officially released the burial schedule.

Fred passed away early Saturday morning in a road accident. Ken Waudo, the chairman of the funeral planning committee in Nairobi, has announced that there will be a memorial service for Fred Omondi at CITAM Valley Road Church starting on Thursday next week.

“Following the death of our colleague and entertainer Fred Odhiambo Omondi, also known as Fred Omondi, who is lying in the mortuary in Nairobi, the committee is preparing for his final send-off as follows:

We will have a memorial service in Nairobi at CITAM Valley Road Church on Thursday, June 27, 2024, from 11:00 am,” part of the schedule stated.

Additionally, the schedule noted that this Friday there will be a grand comedy show in Nairobi to give Fred his final honours, with a similar event being organized at a club in Kisumu on Saturday after the burial.

“There will be a fundraising show for Fred Omondi; ‘The Last Laugh’ at Carnivore Simba Salon on Friday, June 21, 2024, starting at 6:00 pm.

We urge members of the public to turn out in large numbers to support this cause. The signing of the condolence book will also take place here. In Kisumu, Da Place has also volunteered to host Fred Omondi’s last party, which will take place on Saturday evening, June 29.”
