Nazizi’s heartfelt message to supporters after losing her son
Kenyan veteran rapper Nazizi Hirji has penned a message of gratitude to the many people who have supported her during the past four months as she mourned her son, Jazeel Adams.
Nazizi lost her three-year-old son on December 25, 2024, following a tragic accident at a hotel in Tanzania where her family was staying. She has been in deep mourning since then and only recently began appearing publicly.
On Saturday, the coastal-born singer posted a video thanking everyone who stood by her, encouraged her, and showed support as she mourned her son.
“Hello everyone, I know I haven’t been here for a while. But I just want to thank each and every one of you; fans, family, and friends who have been there for me. It has been a very painful journey, but you have been with me through it all, and I am trying to come back,” Nazizi said in the video she posted on Instagram.
She accompanied the video with a lengthy statement thanking the efforts of family, friends, and fans in comforting her.
“You have been my strength, everyone in my DMs for the past 5 months, you are my strength. To everyone who has walked with me every step of this unbearable pain. I love you all,” Nazizi wrote.
She added, “To the parents in my DMs who have lost children and have come out of their pain to encourage me, I feel connected to each one of you in a way that words cannot express. I will walk with you forever. To my parents and Father Jaz @therealtanaka, thank you for being my pillars, you are strong!”
The artist also thanked her eldest son, Tafari Firaz, who, she said, has continued to encourage her not to grieve and reminded her that she has God.
“To my friends, especially my sisters!! You know yourselves; I am blessed to have this circle. I love you. I have never been given this much support in my life, and that means a lot to me at a time when I feel so much anguish, you remind me I can do it,” she said.
She also expressed how much she misses her late son, saying, “I miss Jaz every single second. You are the reason I am still here. Jah bless you all.”
