Mutua announces plans to engage President as he meets Ukambani leaders

Labour Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua once again chaired a strategic meeting bringing together Ukambani leaders and professionals to deliberate on key issues affecting the region.

Members of the technical team formed in January, following the first meeting in Machakos, to lead the process of regional unity and development, were in attendance, preparing for the upcoming Maanzoni 2 meeting to address critical development concerns.

Professionals and youth leaders were among the stakeholders he engaged with in Machakos, even as he announced plans to engage the President on various issues, key among them the onboarding of the community into the broad-based government.

β€œWe are set to engage the President to discuss urgent development priorities, including road infrastructure, education standards, water resources, electricity provision, employment opportunities, business support and professional appointments”, he revealed.

He emphasized that the Kamba community is an integral part of Kenya and must take a proactive role in national development by harnessing their potential, seizing available opportunities, and positioning themselves as key contributors to Kenya’s progress.

β€œ Building upon our previous engagement at Maanzoni, this meeting focused on refining our strategies for the upcoming Maanzoni 2 function and addressing critical development concerns”, he added.

Mutua, who advocated for a people-driven agenda, stated that he would conduct listening tours across key counties, including Machakos, Makueni, and Kitui (the core Ukambani counties), as well as other regions with a significant Ukambani presence, such as Nairobi, Kilifi, Mombasa, Taveta, Embu, and Kwale.
