Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has asked Kenyan to cherish the peace and harmony in the country and strive to defend it at whatever cost.
Mudavadi said Kenyans should stop vilifying the security officers who were spending most of their time defending its citizens against the dangers within and out of the country.
Speaking when he engaged with members of the Kenyan diaspora in Abuja, Nigeria after the 32nd AfreximBank summit, Dr. Mudavadi said by virtue of his position he was privy to several dangers that had been thwarted by the disciplined forces quietly without the knowledge of citizens.
“I want to tell you that there are some people who don’t sleep so that you can sleep, they are always making sure you live comfortably. We get a lot of security threats that have been thwarted because of their efforts,” said Mudavadi.
PCS also the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs said that the Horn of Africa was facing a lot of conflicts and challenges which were in the public domain and Kenyans needed to be alive to the fact that if internal security in Kenya collapsed, the issue of the external threats will be a big problem for the country.
“You see a lot of big problems some of our neighbours have, we should there not be complacent and think that it cannot catch with us if we do not nurture the peace we have. We must guard it religious for Kenya to continue being a beacon of tranquility and hope,” he said.
Mudavadi said that there was need for a robust conversation as Kenyans both externally and internally to deliberate on the future of the country, with peace and harmony as the main topics on the table.
“We need to have a very genuine conversation so that we can come together, we can talk to these issues, and we can help each other, because at the end of the day, nobody will love Kenya more than Kenyan themselves,” said Mudavadi.
He lauded the efforts of Kenyans in diaspora who had become the single biggest source of revenue to the country urging them to invest back at home for their future and those of their families.
“When you make money here, I urge you to invest it back at home in the different sectors of development. I am proud to inform you that you have overtaken all the other revenues to be the largest revenue erner for our country and we are proud of you,” said Mudavadi.
Mudavadi said that with the future of the annual remittance inflows edging closer to a trillion shilling mark, our diaspora has proven to be not only a source of economic strength but a symbol of resilience, patriotism, and belief in our nation’s future.
“As government, we see the diaspora not as distant observers but as essential partners in building a stronger Kenya. Through investments, innovation, and knowledge exchange, Kenyans abroad continue to shape our national transformation. I encouraged sustained dialogue and deeper collaboration to ensure their efforts are fully reflected in our development agenda,” said Mudavadi.
The PCS also congratulated the officials of Kenyan embassies who do a commendable job of uplifting and supporting Kenyan citizens abroad.
“I particularly thank you the Kenyans in Nigeria for being our good ambassadors and for your invaluable role in strengthening the ties between Kenya and Nigeria, bridging cultures and fostering enduring people-to-people connections,” said Mudavadi.
