Morocco pledges to increase imports of Kenyan tea, coffee
Morocco has pledged to increase its importation of Kenyan tea and coffee as bilateral ties between the two countries deepen.
The commitment was made during a high-level meeting in Rabat between Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch, where the two leaders discussed enhancing cooperation in key sectors including trade, tourism, agriculture, industry, and education.
Prime Minister Akhannouch said Morocco would prioritise Kenyan tea and coffee among its import considerations, offering a potential new market for two of Kenya’s top agricultural exports.
“We also agreed to commence immediate bilateral engagements aimed at unlocking Morocco’s full market potential for Kenyan products and expertise,” said Mudavadi, who is also the CS Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.
The Moroccan Prime Minister further expressed his intention to visit Kenya at Mudavadi’s invitation, accompanied by a delegation of Moroccan investors to further cement economic and diplomatic ties.
Mudavadi was accompanied during the Rabat visit by Kenya’s Ambassador to Morocco, Jessica Gakinya, Deputy Director for Africa Affairs Lazarus Muganda, and senior embassy officer Abdullahi Mohamed.
