MCA Tricky – My parents only found out I was on TV after a year
Comedian MCA Tricky has revealed that his parents only discovered he was appearing on television after a year.
Speaking with Oga Obinna, Tricky shared that it took his parents a whole year to realize that their child was making people laugh on TV.
When asked why it took them so long, Tricky admitted that they did not own a television and also couldn’t believe that their child was the one appearing on TV.
He explained that when he began performing on Churchill Show dressed as a street urchin, he was a second-year college student, so his parents couldn’t believe it was him appearing on TV while they knew he was at KU University.
“My parents only found out I was on TV after a year. The first reason is that they didn’t have a TV, and the second is that the Tricky they saw on TV didn’t look like their child. They couldn’t believe it was me because I looked like a completely different person on TV,” he said.
Tricky revealed that the lack of a TV at his parents’ home somewhat helped him until his uncle discovered and spread the word to the family.
“My uncle was the one who found out I was on TV and warned me to be careful with TV people who might take advantage of me, thinking I was the one paying to entertain people on stage,” he disclosed.
