Masengeli, Lagat Sworn in as Deputy Inspector General of police
The newly appointed DIG-Kenya Police Service Eliud Lagat and DIG Administration Police Service Gilbert Masengeli were on Thursday sworn in as the substantive Deputy Inspectors General
They were sworn in, in a brief ceremony held at the Supreme Court and presided over by Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court of Kenya Martha Koome.
Inspector General Douglas Kanja Kirocho thereafter handed over the NPS Command to Masengeli.
DIG Masengeli will now double as the Acting Inspector General National Police Service.
This follows Kanja’s nomination as the Inspector General of the NPS on June 25, 2024, by President William Ruto.
The role of DIG-KPS involves commanding, controlling, and administering the Kenya Police Service under the direction of the IG.
The DIG-APS is responsible for leading the Administration Police Service and operates under the directions and control of the IG.
