Masengeli directed to present himself to court or face sanctions » Capital News
NAIROBI, Kenya, Sep 5 – The High Court has ordered Acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli to present himself in court at 3pm Thursday or face sanctions after skipping summon.
According to justice Lawrence Mugambi, Masengeli disobeyed a court order requiring him to explain the whereabouts of three people abducted by police three weeks ago
The judge said that the IG has not purged the contempt and failure to appear in court will result in his punishment.
He said the explanation by a representative of the Attorney General that the IG was attending a seminar in Mombasa was not a good enough.
The three people abducted by the police were represented by the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) through lawyers Moses Owuor and Joshua Omanwa.
