Malala calls out CSs Kuria, Murkomen for engaging in politics
UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala has faulted Public Service Cabinet Secretaries Moses Kuria and his Transport counterpart Kipchumba Murkomen for engaging in politics.
In a statement, Malala said holders of public office should achieve their primary objectives which is to serve Kenyans.
Malala went on to say that should the Cabinet Secretaries feel the need to engage in politics actively, they must resign from the public offices they hold.
“It has come to my attention that some Cabinet Secretaries have been involving themselves in political activities, contrary to the law which requires them to remain apolitical. Hon. Moses Kuria, the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Gender, and Affirmative Action, your primary responsibility is to serve the people within your docket. Should you wish to engage in politics, you are welcome to resign and join the political arena,” said Malala.
“Similarly, Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen, Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport, your focus should be on addressing the pressing issues in your ministry, particularly the reclamation of roads damaged by recent floods. Serve the Kenyan people or step down from your position and return to politics,” he added.
Murkomen was among CSs who accompanied the DP to Uasin Gishu over the weekend, where the leaders rallied support for Gachagua.
The UDA Secretary General further mentioned Githunguri Mp Gathoni Wa Muchomba her Kapseret counterpart Oscar Sudi and Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga who he accuses of undermining the party’s unity.
“Your recent conduct not only undermines the party’s unity but also disrespects the leadership that you pledged to serve. Let this be a stern warning: desist from such actions with immediate effect. Should this behavior persist, the party will take disciplinary action against you,” warned the SG
The remarks come amid reports of a division in the Rift Valley over support for Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
