Macharia Gaitho’s daughter speaks after dad’s traumatic abduction
The daughter of veteran journalist Macharia Gaitho was with her father during his apparent abduction. Anita Gaitho spoke out about the traumatic incident, sharing her thoughts on her Twitter, now X.com.
“I’m with my dad. He’s just been brought to Karen police station by the car that abducted him. He’s safe although they roughed him up a bit,” she wrote.
Anita shared a video showing her father in a Probox, the vehicle where individuals attempted to push him. She added, “We’re making the abduction report now.”
She also noted, “This is the car that abducted him. Look at that foolish driver wanting to knock us down when leaving.” The Probox, with the number plate KBC 725J, was white.
“These criminals claim to be DCI. They had guns and handcuffs and refused to identify themselves,” she continued.
“The DCIO here confirmed that the abductors are indeed from DCI. They claim it is a case of mistaken identity. They’re making it difficult for us to file the report, asking us to go to DCI headquarters. They want us to report them to themselves?”
Anita was also with her younger brother during the incident. Her update concerned fans, who encouraged her to stay strong.
They also shared screenshots of a newspaper article written by her father titled, “A People’s Revolt is in the Offing.”
The DCI has since stated that Gaitho’s arrest was a case of mistaken identity. Gaitho was arrested Wednesday morning at Karen Police Station.
