Let us address Kenyans with respect, urges Mudavadi
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has called on Kenyan leaders to uphold dignity, humility, and service when addressing citizens.
Speaking in Mbeere South, Embu County, during a high-level economic empowerment programme, the PCS emphasized that respectful and people-centered leadership is essential in building a united, inclusive, and forward-looking nation.
“Let us address Kenyans with respect,” Mudavadi stated. “Leadership is not about arrogance or entitlement. It is about listening, being accountable, and serving the people with humility.”
He urged leaders at all levels to mentor and create opportunities for young people, stressing the need to nurture the next generation of leadership. “The youth are the future of this country. It is our duty to guide them, not shut them out,” he said.
Mudavadi also issued a strong warning against divisive politics, urging both leaders and citizens to rise above sectionalism and tribalism. He reminded the public that tribal divisions have no place in a democratic society and called for a collective commitment to national unity.
“Kenya is one nation. We must lead and live with that spirit. There is no room for leaders or citizens who divide our people along ethnic lines,” he affirmed.
The Prime Cabinet Secretary stressed the importance of empowerment as a foundation for national development. He encouraged leaders to champion economic initiatives and ensure adequate allocation of resources to critical sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, and enterprise development.
To enhance transparency and accountability, Mudavadi said the government is continuing with efforts to digitise public institutions. “The digitization of government processes is not just about efficiency. It is a tool to protect public resources, monitor progress, and ensure that every shilling benefits the people,” he said.
He reiterated that the Kenya Kwanza government is firmly guided by constitutional values and committed to upholding the rights and freedoms of all citizens.
In particular, he emphasized the importance of freedom of speech and expression in a thriving democracy. “We must show the world that Kenya is a democratic nation. We do not want to lose more lives to repression or intolerance. Citizens must be free to speak, question, and engage constructively in governance,” Hon. Mudavadi declared.
The PCS urged Kenyans to reject tribalism and resist leaders who use ethnicity as a tool to divide and distract the public from development goals. He called on every citizen to be vigilant and to promote peace, unity, and equal opportunity for all.
Accompanying the Prime Cabinet Secretary at the event were the area Member of Parliament, Engineer Muriuki, National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo, Chief Whip Sylvanus Osoro, Sabina Chege, and other local and national leaders.
