
Leaders express solidarity with Raila ahead of AUC elections
Leaders from across Kenya’s political spectrum have united to express their solidarity with Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga as the African Union Commission (AUC) elections approach today.
In conveying their best wishes, the leaders contended that Raila is the most qualified candidate for the AUC chairmanship, reiterating that his leadership and experience are vital for addressing continental challenges.
Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka stated that Raila’s vision for the continent resonates deeply with Africans, highlighting his capacity to help realize Africa’s vast and untapped potential.
“As a friend, brother, political party coalition partner, and African with Africa’s best interests at heart, I believe Rt Hon Raila Amolo Odinga’s recorded promises, which have been archived for posterity, have the potential to help our beloved continent reach its full potential,” he said.
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua also extended his best wishes to Raila, asserting that his victory would be beneficial and progressive for Africa, marking it as a win for Kenya.
“Kenya’s finest Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga is undoubtedly the best bet for the African Union Commission chairmanship. Africa deserves the best. There is no doubt about Raila’s worldview and championship for African people. His win in Addis Ababa imprints his quest for his Pan-African spirit he has lived and championed,” said Gachagua
KANU leader Gideon Moi expressed confidence that Raila would help the continent achieve collective prosperity if he ascends to the position of the AUC Chairperson.
“Across the political spectrum, everybody is in concurrence that Hon. Odinga is a visionary, bold and progressive leader. And today, Africa stands at a pivotal moment of its history as a continent, ready to be steered to greater heights by a great statesman and Pan-African,” said Moi.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen remarked that Raila is the best leader to be entrusted with the task of realizing Africa’s most ambitious blueprint – Agenda 2063.
“By electing the Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga as the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Africa would be choosing not only an accomplished statesman but a firm believer in the Pan-African movement. Raila Odinga is our continent’s best bet for a secure, peaceful, integrated, dynamic and prosperous Africa,” he stated.
“Raila Odinga’s candidacy, backed by President William Ruto, shows the power of statesmanship. We rally behind Baba as he takes his vision to the AU,” added Principal Secretary for Interior Raymond Omollo.
Mining Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho noted that Raila’s victory would be a triumph for Africa and the advancement of democracy.
“You (Raila Odinga) have the experience, vision and commitment needed to elevate the continent to the next level. Your Pan-African credentials speak for themselves and they are a testament to your dedication to the progress of Africa,” he stated.
“Indefatigable Pan-Africanist! Go for it, Raila Odinga,” added Rebecca Miano, Cabinet Secretary for Tourism.
Kenya’s ruling party, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), remarked, “Hon. Raila Odinga has passionately fought for liberation and the multi-party democracy enjoyed by political parties in Kenya.The UDA party wishes him all the best in the AUC election. Bring it home, Baba. Kenya prays for you.”
Several County Governors also rallied behind Raila’s candidacy noting that the continent would greatly benefit from his experience.
“Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga, your leadership, dedication to Pan-Africanism, and commitment to regional integration have left a lasting impact. I extend my best wishes as you seek to serve Africa as AUC Chairperson. I am confident that your experience will drive the continent’s development forward. Wishing you all the best, Baba,” said Anne Waiguru, Governor of Kirinyaga.
“I take this opportunity to wish our Former Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga, the very best in his quest for the AUC Chairmanship to be held in Addis Ababa.As a statesman, Hon. Raila has the credentials and ability to change Africa’s fortunes,” noted Mutahi Kahiga, Governor of Nyeri.
“We pray for The Right Honourable Raila Odinga to win the seat of AU Commission Chairman. He is a Kenyan and he is flying the Kenyan flag. As patriotic Kenyans, we should all support our own on the International stage,” said Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti.
“We are proud to support a visionary leader, Raila Odinga, whose legacy of Pan-Africanism, democratic governance, and regional integration aligns with the AU’s aspirations. Africa deserves bold leadership, and Kenya has the best candidate for the job,” stated Abdulswamad Nassir of Mombasa.
Other leaders to convey their goodwill messages include Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris, Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi, and Samburu WestMP Naisula Lesuuda, among others.
“Praying for the RT. Hon. Raila Odinga win in AUC chairperson elections. A proven Statesman with decades of service to Kenya and the continent of Africa. Given Baba s unwavering vision; the continent Africa will thrive,” said Passaris.
“We wish you success, Raila Odinga, in your bid for the African Union Chairmanship. May your leadership pave the way for a united and prosperous Africa,” stated Wanyonyi.
“Wishing you all the best, Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga, as you embark on the African Union Commission elections. Your passion for Africa’s progress is unmatched, and I have no doubt you are up to the task. May your vision bear fruit,” said Lesuuda.
Francis Atwoli, the Secretary General of COTU, expressed his support by stating that, as a leader who has consistently championed democracy, pan-Africanism, and solidarity with Kenyan workers, he is confident that Raila’s vision, experience, and commitment will significantly further the African Union’s agenda for peace, unity, and development.
“African workers remain committed to an AU that prioritizes job creation, industrialization, and social justice, and we trust that with Raila Odinga at the helm, the voices of workers and all Africans will find greater representation,” said Atwoli affirmed.
