Lady found to have ‘love sickness’ after calling bf 100 times a day
A beautiful 18-year-old girl in China who called her boyfriend more than 100 times a day has been found to be suffering from “love sickness,” the South China Morning Post reported.
According to the unusual report, the girl, nicknamed Xiaoyu, from the southwestern province of Sichuan, struggled so much that it severely affected her mental health and made her boyfriend’s life miserable, Yueniu News reported.
Dr. Du Na, a doctor at Fourth People’s Hospital in Chengdu, was quoted by the outlet as saying Xiaoyu’s anxious behavior began in her first year of university.
Xiaoyu and her boyfriend started a close relationship, but she soon felt anxious and overwhelmed because she started relying on him too much and needing him all the time.
Not only did she call him constantly to tell him where she was, she also wanted him to respond to her messages all day and night.
“She expected him to respond to her messages immediately,” Du said.
In a video clip seen by the outlet, Xiaoyu is shown sending her boyfriend messages repeatedly to turn on his WeChat camera. He doesn’t respond, but she keeps calling him anyway, which he ignores.
One day she called him more than 100 times but he didn’t answer. She was so angry that she threw household items and smashed them near the house.
The boyfriend called the police, who arrived as soon as he threatened to jump from the balcony. Xiaoyu went to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, known as “love sickness.”
Du said the condition may be accompanied by other mental illnesses such as anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder.
Du did not disclose the cause of Xiaoyu’s illness, but said it often occurred in people who did not have a good relationship with their parents during childhood.
He said people with mild conditions, whose lives are not severely affected, can recover on their own by learning to control their emotions.
