KWS translocates 74 impalas from Olmogi farm to Tundra Conservancy » Capital News
NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 13 – The Kenya Wildlife Service has successfully moved a herd of 74 impalas from Olmogi farm of Kenya Nut in Naivasha to Tundra Conservancy in Laikipia.
This comes after Olmogi farm decided to settle passionately on dairy farming.
According to the service, Tundra conservancy is perfect for the Impalas considering its favorable conditions.
“Tundra Conservancy is an ideal sanctuary for the impalas, boasting ample space, rich vegetation and protected environment providing sustainable conditions for their conservation and well-being,” KWS stated.
They further stated that experienced wildlife specialists and veterinarians oversaw the careful translocation process to minimize stress and ensure the impalas’ well-being, following all necessary precautions and protocols.
This is the third relocation of wild animals to Tundra conservancy after a mother hippo and her kid were captured within Naivasha sewerage plant and the relocation of Eland antelopes from Olpejeta Conservancy and Mutura ADC farm.
These events took place on different days in October 2023.
