KWS announces recruitment drive for 1,500 cadets and rangers » Capital News
NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 19 – The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has launched a recruitment drive aimed at enlisting new cadets and rangers.
According to the service, it seeks to recruit, “1,500 young and dynamic individuals as Cadets (Assistant Warden I) – 150 and Rangers – 1,350 who can endure the condition for training and deployment to various conservation areas in response to the wildlife protection challenges currently being experienced in the country in a phased approach.”
For recruitment as a cadet, one must be a Kenyan Citizen aged 28 years and below with no criminal record.
One should also have a Bachelors degree from a a recognized institution with a minimum of a second class honors lower division.
The areas of specialization should be in Wildlife management, natural resources management, Environmental science, Range management, Veterinary medicine, criminology, and Security management, Tourism management, Education, Sociology or Community development.
Interested applicants are required to download the application form from the KWS website or obtain it from KWS National Park stations and deliver their application with relevant academic and professional certificates by April 8.
Successful applicants will undergo mandatory paramilitary training for nine months.
Those wishing to enlist as rangers are supposed to be Kenyan citizens aged between 18 and 28 years with a minimum of mean KCSE grade D .
They are expected to present academic certificates and ID for verification from Monday April 15 to Friday April 19 at recruitment centers in 47 counties.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a mandatory paramilitary training for six months and thereafter deployed to the field.
National Youth Service (NYS) graduates, Persons with disability, women, those from marginalized areas and minority communities are encouraged to apply.
