Kumbe! ‘Kudonjo Kumalo’ hitmaker Goddy Tennor is saved

Goddy Tennor has been taking the music scene by storm recently. The musician recorded his first song in 2017, which was a gospel song he did while in Form One.

“Lakini si unajua hio ma gospel za Gen Z? We were bringing those vibes until mahali nikatafuta mukuchu.” 

He is saved and his parents are senior Pastors in Church. They are supportive of his career pursuing Arbantone music.

He opened up about his life to Radio Maisha’s Mwende Macharia on Friday, May 17th.

“Nilikuwa nimeokoka na hadi saa hii nimeokoka, my mum and dad ni watu wakubwa kule church. So it’s their prayers that have led to my success. Hata sa hii wako tuned mbaya.”

The Mukuchu hitmaker said his music never addresses romance because, “Ilipitwa na wakati. Saa hii tunamove na timetable na syllabus mpya. Hakuna kubembeleza.”

Arbantone is a sound popularized since 2023, and Goddy is confident it will remain for the next ten years.

“Arbantone is a Kenyan culture loved by Gen Z’s.”

He dispelled the beliefs that they are about partying and alcohol.

“When you look at our videos, they are very clean compared to others. Arbantone is strictly yani, then we have mastered how Kenyan music is going.”

He says artistes have stopped sampling old beats after it became a topic of discussion. For his song TikToker, he sampled Jua Cali’s beat 

“Before you sample a beat you must speak to the owner. Actually, we stopped sampling last year. From Mukuchu, those are new sounds we have come up with,” he assured.
