NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 13 – Kisii Deputy Governor Robert Monda has pleaded not guilty to gross misconduct during the Senate impeachment hearing currently underway.
The charges which were read to him also include gross violation of the constitution, crimes under national law and abuse of office.
The hearing comes after the House resolved to alter its meeting schedule for Wednesday and Thursday, which will mark the final day for the Senate to vote on whether to support or oppose Monda’s impeachment.
The Deputy Governor was impeached on February 29, 2024, by members of the Kisii County Assembly amid accusations of abuse of office and bribery.
