Kenya’s leaders celebrate Mothers as pillars of society on Mother’s Day

Kenya joined the World in marking Mother’s Day Sunday with the First Lady Rachel Ruto leading leaders in paying tribute to mothers for the role they play in nurturing families.

In a statement on her X handle, Mama Rachel noted that mothers are pillars of families and play an irreplaceable role in shaping the societies.

“This Mother’s Day, we honor the tireless spirit of every mother whose heart finds no peace until her child feels safe and loved. A mother’s world is beautifully intertwined with the wellbeing of her children; every smile, tear, and victory echoes in her soul. Her days are marked by quiet prayers, patient kindness, and a love that “always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres” She noted.

On his part, President William Ruto celebrated mothers for the role they play in the family and in national development.

“Through love, sacrifice, and care, they raise and nurture us to be responsible and productive. Today, we honour all mothers for their tireless devotion to family and society. We value you. We celebrate you. Happy Mother’s Day.” Said President Ruto.

Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale emphasized that as caregivers and nurturers, mothers are central to the health of the nation and to future generations.

“Today, we celebrate mothers; the heartbeat of our families and the foundation of community wellness. As caregivers and nurturers, they are central to our nation’s health and the wellbeing of future generations.” CS Duale noted.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen celebrated mothers noting that they are the glue holds the society together. “God created us in His likeness; a mother raises us in her fondness. Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers and maternal figures. You’re the glue that holds our society together. We honour and celebrate you.” Remarked CS Kipchumba.

Mining CS said: “Wishing all mothers a joyful and blessed Mother’s Day! Your love, kindness, strength and unwavering support light up our lives in ways we can hardly express. Today, we celebrate you and all the beautiful moments you create. We truly cherish you!”

Tourism and Wildlife CS Rebecca Miano honored mothers for their essential role in uplifting families and building strong social bonds.

Mother’s Day, observed annually on the second Sunday of May, serves as a reminder of the foundational role mothers play not just in the home, but in shaping values, character, and the fabric of society.
